Dionne & Maleeha
Our Story
I’m Dr. Maleeha Mohiuddin, and I started this podcast with the help of my best
friend and fellow physician, Dr. Dionne Ibekie. We are both anesthesiologists and
actually met on the first day of residency training at Harvard. Where somehow we
survived….and remarkably graduated. Nothing can bond people for life like years of
70 hour work weeks, stressful exams and bad cafeteria food. So that part of Grey’s
Anatomy is realistic (minus all the hot people and steamy hookups.)
Over the past few years, I realized how much we consult each other
not just about our personal lives and the daily grind, but particularly medical topics.
Although we live apart, me in the heat-stroked valley of Phoenix and Dionne in
chilly Chi-town, the pandemic brought us even closer. Many of our late night
conversations would turn from very serious, like how can we safely perform an
emergency Caesarean section in a mom who has COVID?… to extremely silly,
should we keep a roll of disposable garbage bags on us to wear for extra
protection? As I dished with Dionne, we realized that it might be entertaining and
perhaps educational to share some of our insights with you!
